Setting up Arm Rig with Controls

Arm Rig with Controls
- Create an IK from Shoulder to Wrist. This IK needs to be a RPSolver (rotation plane) IK type
- Create a circle
- shape it however you want
- freeze transformations and delete history
- select joint, select circle – point constraint & orient constraint
- delete the constraints from the side panel
- Create a ‘null object group’ by SPACE > Edit > Group
- do the same thing and select joint, then null object group – point & orient constraints and delete the constraints
- parent the circle UNDER the null object group by hitting ‘P’ or dragging it under
- nurbs circle should have it’s values zero’d out which is the whole point…
- parent the IK handle underneath (not sure if that’s the null object group or the circle – probably circle)
- select the control, selct the joint and go to constrain > orient[] and ensure that you have maintain axes off and set it to all axies.
Pole Vector Constraints
- make a nurbs circle
- snap it to the shoulder/hip
- drag it outwards from the joint and freeze transformations/delete history
- make it look pretty…
- selct the control, then the IK handle and select Pole Vector Constraint
