by on Oct.11, 2011, under Zbrush

A quick way to create clothing using the Extract tool in Zbrush. This is very, very simple. Simply mask off the area you wish to create clothing for using CTRL and painting on the mask onto the model (you can use 'lazy mouse' by holding 'L' key and that will give your strokes a straighter line where necessary). To extract, go to Sub Tools, and down the bottom, move the thickness slider to something suitable (higher will make thicker mesh) and hit 'Extract'. Select your new sub-tool and paint Read more [...]

Created my first proper project over the past few weeks and manged to get this to do everything I want so far... It's much more powerful than Mudbrush and there's just so much you can do with it... UV unwrap and then creating a texture map using Poly paint is an absolute god-send and saved hours of time.. Can save all of the texture maps out as .PSD files and export to Maya for rendering still - I haven't found Zbrush particularly good for doing rendering as of yet but it might just be that I Read more [...]

Sculpt Tool: Hold B-key and drag to adjust brush size. Hold M-key and drag to adjust strength of the brush Falloffs - adjust this to alter the sharpness of the brush etc. Holding 'shift' while using a tool will smooth. Holding 'CTRL' will reverse the brush so if you are pulling out, it will push in. Usually you want to do as much detail as you can at lower poly and then as you move up, do the more detailed/finer detail. Bulge tool - good for musculature and things like that. Drag Read more [...]

Automated UV unwrapping tool for Zbrush

by on Mar.31, 2010, under Zbrush

Wow, this is very nice... http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/features/UV-Master/  (information taken from here) UV Master: UV Creation Has Never Been So Easy! When creating or using a texture map, a 3D model needs UVs. These are 2D coordinates that tell all 3D applications how to apply a texture to your model. Until now, the process of creating those UVs has been a time consuming challenge that requires a high level of technical expertise and has little room for creativity. UV Master Read more [...]
