Zbrush Quick Notes to sort out later

Notes:
- Ctrl – N = new canvas.
- Work in 2.5D and 3D.
- Can ‘drop’ model to canvas by clicking ‘edit a second time. This means you can’t rotate it, but you can draw in new copies of the tool.
- Holding Alt key lets you ‘carve in’ when you are sculpting.
- Can Undo steps using Ctrl-Z like normal. You can also change the number of Undo’s you have through Preferences > Undo Settings.
- ‘Edit Mode’ – allows you to take a tool from 2.5D to full 3D state.
- Edit shortcut = ‘T’.
- once in edit mode, you can move, rotate and scale.
- click edit again to drop back to 2.5D
- Help button top right of screen including documentation etc.
- Also is a built-in help feature by hover over something and hold Ctrl key
- Move – hold Alt and click in empty space to move object
- Rotate – click in empty space and move mouse around to rotate.
- Scale – hold Alt, start moving object then release alt = scale.
- Tools: located in Tool Palette..
- 2.5D brushes: Hold Ctrl key to bring up help description pop-up.
- Smart Resym: Lets you work on one side, then then go to Tools > Deformations pull down > Smart Resym. Need to mask off section to resym.. Hold Ctrl and click and drag to make a mask. then slect the axis to mirror on the right.
- Rotate while holding shift to snap rotate. (do this before masking)
- Working in symmetry: Shortcut = ‘x’ to turn on/off symmetry (defaulted in X-axis). Symetry options found in Transform Palette. – change axis here etc.
- Ctrl-D adds detail to mesh
